Lazarus Development - 013
I wanted to start looking further at assets again as I've already spent so much time looking around for good models and also downloading different software's like StarFab (Spectrum, 2025) but not finding anything good. I found a couple different sources of different assets so far like the ships in my last blog post, but none of them at the moment are favourable because of different reasons like no texture maps, mesh not being segmented and low LOD etc. I think StarFab is goin

When it comes to assets I have already found a few sources for ship models from in-game which some guy had posted in a forum some years ago. I used one of the models in the storyboard/pre-vis but it was a really old model and didn't come with any texture maps or anything, I don't have much experience texturing big mesh's like this so I'd preferably want something that has textures that I can modify. The mesh was all one object as well so I think that would make it a lot more

Moving on to character design, I knew there wasn't much I wanted to change with the design of the character from the armour that's in game but I do want to add a couple things. Helmet For the helmet I want to use the Morozov SH-I Pyrotechnic variant as its an iconic helmet in the game and also has so very recognisable features which will help to make the main character stand out from the rest. Ithuraen (2025) Firstly I was thinking of expanding the visor so its a bit thicker,

I finally finished my storyboard, I was glad I did the script before finishing off the storyboard as its really helped me develop the scene more, making it feel a lot more structured than it was originally. Here is the first story board I made at the very beginning of the brief. Storyboard v1 This story board has the initial idea but you can tell I didn't really know where it was going towards the end. I think the development of the scene has come along nicely. I do feel like

Now that the script is done, I need to focus on the storyboard for a while. Although I've already kind of done the storyboard but I need to update is as I've developed the story and the scene a lot since the start of the brief. I've started out just using some of the same stuff I used in my initial story board but changing some things like the order they come in or making it look a bit better than it did originally. I also used a POV shot of inside one of the ships in my orig

Whilst writing out my script I was glad I did my treatment and pre vis first as it was really helpful to look back on and helped me keep it consistent. I didn't find it as hard as I thought it was going to be, it was pretty straight forward after looking at different scripts online as an example on how everything is structured (Wurdeman, A, 2024). Dabble Writer - Creative Screenwriting: How to Write Star-Worthy Stories That post does talk about the white space in a script and

After creating my treatment I started to focus more on the script, I wasn't too sure how to create it but ended up finding a template for Microsoft word by 'Studio Binder' which has the correct spacing, font and everything needed to create a script in word (StudioBinder, 2025). I'm also not too sure how the script is going to look or read like as there isn't any dialogue in the short, or not until later on in the story but I'm only planning on doing a very short episode for t

I've been meaning to make a schedule for a bit now but I've been struggling on how to start it. There's an example on blackboard that I'm going to try to use as a template of how it should look. It is a around two weeks since I spoke to my lecturer so I'm going to start it from then and just fill in what I've been doing since then. I'm also not sure what the deadline is for our final project so I'm just going to go by how many the example one shows on blackboard and then upda

After the first treatments I think I added a lot more depth to the story and made it feel a lot better to understand what's happening but there is still a few things I wanted to change like at the start it just glosses over the whole first scene so I want to add a bit more description so you can tell who the character is working for and stealing from. There is also no explanation for how the bounty hunter got onto the main characters ship which I'm going to have to add to tel

I think I've been getting too a head of myself so I want to start to develop the story a bit better. I created a treatment but was really struggling on how to structure it better and where to transition each act. Here is the original treatment I created. its a very rough draft. Treatment 001 "A mercenary is currently doing a contract for the ASD weapons manufacturers when the Hackrow Agency who tried to intercept whatever cargo the mercenary was carrying. I wanted to start to work on more of the actual lore now that I have a bit of the story board and pre-vis in a nice place. There are missions in the game the require you to go into research facilities and testing stations in different systems of the game where you explore and discover information on a company that is doing cruel experiments to try and fix the 'regen crisis' in which all of the regen med beds are failing (how the player respawns). I want the main character to

Continuing on from my last storyboard I have found a load of different ship models online but I am struggling at the moment to find something that would allow me to extract models and textures from the current game as the assets I've got currently have really bad topology or are old assets from years ago which doesn't currently fit into the shots I want, like the 'Phoenix Constellation' ship which is a model that's outdated and all of the landing gear and elevators are all do

Starting my Masters degree in Animation I have decided to develop an idea I have already had in the past. I started creating fluid simulations to refresh my knowledge in Houdini. I had a basic idea of a shot I wanted but didn't think too much of the actual concept but focused on the simulation now and then over a couple months. Now that I'm going to be continuing it for my degree I have had a lot more time to think about the actual story and the lore behind the shot. I am goi
