After getting the animation to a nice point I started to populate the scene a bit more. I added the planet in the sky which is going to be used later on to transition into the space shot. I've gone with the moon "Clio" which is the largest moon in Microtech. To create the texture for the moon I just got a image of the earth stretched out and just changed the hue of different things to get it the kind of turquoise colour of the moon.

At first I was struggling to make it stand out more but realised I had increased the exposure on the camera I was using so turned it down a bit, I needed to turn it down a bit anyway as I wanted the cockpit to be a lot darker with the only light being from some of the consoles on the ship and from the sun/environment light.

I tried adding a gradient to the texture to show a kind of dark side of the moon which would have faded into the sky similar to this reference image.

I have done a couple renders now at different sample rates and denoisers. First I tried testing the denoisers out, from what I gathered online that Optix and Altus Single were the best for animated renders so I'm just going to test those two out and see which one gives the nicest look.

Unfortunately I had just deleted these tests to make room as I dont have a lot of memory left on my drive right now but I do still have the still frames. The Optix denoiser when animated flickered a lot and had a lot of artifacts which you can kind of see the top left of the joystick on the bottom pic (Picture above). The Altus single render looks a lot smoother which isn't ideal but looks a lot better than Optix when in motion.
